Identity Theft
Identity theft is a major concern of the WCCC. Each year, the Federal Trade Commission recieves about 2,700 identity theft complaints from Wisconsin residents. Nationwide, just two percent of all identity thefts are reported to the FTC, meaning the real number of identity thefts in Wisconsin could be much higher.
We have worked with legislators to prevent additional state-sponsored databases, limiting the situations where consumers may be asked for their personal information, and heling to educate the public on identity theft prevention.
