Minimum Markup of Consumer Goods
Individuals in many other states are able to enjoy great promotions from reatilers. However in Wisconsin, we cannot. Those great "Black Friday" sales on consumer electronics are, for the most part, unavailable in Wisconsin.
Minimum markup laws deter competitive price cutting and can ultimately lead to higher prices for consumers. They can also prevent efficient retailers from passing on savings to consumers. In the end it discourages new more efficient retailers from entering the marketplace.
By working to repeal decads old minimum markup laws, Wisconsin consumers stand to gain from increased price competition, giving them more choice in the marketplace.
